Welcome to my new look website!
We thought it needed a spring-clean
and a few different photographs...
I am writing this on a gloriously sunny day in Sussex. The garden is
full of flowers and birds and spring is definitely in the air. I am just
home from almost ten days in Paris where I had two lovely concerts, one
with Graham Johnson and Clara Mouriz, a beautiful young mezzo-soprano,
and one with Maciej Pikulski. Paris was looking stunning in the sunshine
and I was able to catch up with old friends in between concerts.
My next trip will be to Dresden. I am so looking forward to seeing the
Frauenkirche again; I was there when the orb was placed on top of the
dome but I have never been inside the finished church. I sang so often
at the Semper Oper in Dresden: "Capriccio", "Der Rosenkavalier" and
"Arabella" all in one week as part of a Strauss Festival- that was a bit
of a strain on the brain! After that, Graham and I are hoping to travel
to Tokyo, but we shall see whether that will be possible; the situation
there is heart-breaking.
I am thrilled to be giving two concerts at the end of May at the Opera
Comique in Paris. I have an unusual recital programme with Jason Carr,
and an actor/dancer called Olivier Sferlazza who took part in "La Belle
Hélène" and "La Grande Duchesse" in Paris. The concert is staged by
Laurent Pelly, and so far we have performed it once a year, often around
Christmas, so it will be great to have two chances to perform it, and in
Paris. There is quite a mix of music, from Poulenc to Sondheim, Reynaldo
Hahn to Richard Rodgers. I hope we can pack out the beautiful Opera
Comique.
So, I hope you approve of the renovated website and I wish everyone a
happy beginning of Spring! FL
